Our annual young women’s empowerment conference You Go Girl! Empowering Character Above All hosted some of Chicago’s most prominent women who came out to share their professional insights with SHE Sisters. Women from all industries came out to discuss the importance of great character in post secondary success.
This year’s line up consisted of; CEO of Chicago Scholars Dominique Jordan Turner, CPS Network Chief Dr. Cheryl Watkins and Wheaton College’s Chief Intercultural Engagement Officer Dr. Sheila Caldwell as guest speakers. Our amazing panel hosted V103’s Bionce Foxx, Revlon’s Trixia Valdez, Cumulus Radio’s Inez Melendez, Psychologist Dr. Ghana Cooper and IL Congressional Candidate Kina Collins. Lastly, we were truly honored to have Chicago’s first African American Woman Mayor, Lori Lightfoot, as our keynote speaker.
SHE Sisters gathered to ask questions about the quality of character, authenticity and integrity required to be successful in any industry. Our speaker enjoyed lunch and networking with our girls coaching them through positive an reassuring conversations, helping our girls to see the humanity that lives beneath the power. Our girls also had the opportunity to snag-a-mentor as they engaged with each of our guests and panelists as our Mistress of Ceremonies, Sundance kept the energy high.
We are truly thankful for all of the women who committed to providing this experience for our girls.
“I just love Dominique Jordan Turner. She was so strong and confident as a woman CEO. I can see myself being like her one day. I want her as a mentor.” -SHE Sister Jamie McCoy
